MoDOT Uses Unlikely Ingredient in Asphalt MoDOT is among the first state agencies in the nation to recycle tear-off shingles to resurface or rebuild highways. Rooftops The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently approved a new five-year transportation construction program that shows spending for Missouri's roads and bridges will plummet in fiscal year 2010, which begins July 1, 2009. STIP An innovative pilot project that lets farmers mow roadsides is saving MoDOT resources. Mowing Saving lives on Missouri highways – that’s the objective of the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, a collaboration of federal, state and local agencies and organizations. For the third year in a row, the coalition has dedicated funds to that purpose, and fatalities are currently down 16 percent as of July 15.
