2009-2013 Statewide Highway & Bridge Construction Schedule


The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for the week of Aug. 25-29, 2008. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected. Motorists should also be aware that mowing is underway on various routes throughout the central Missouri area. MoDOT reminds the public to buckle up, slow down, follow posted signing and drive safely through work areas. For more information about a project, please contact MoDOT at 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636).

Benton County

Daylight Hours

Route 7, Truman Reservoir Bridge, east of the Henry County line – Crews will seal the bridge deck on Tuesday, Aug. 26.  One lane of the bridge will be open to traffic.

Boone County

Overnight/Daylight Hours

Route 763 between Big Bear Blvd. and Prathersville Road in Columbia – Roadway widening. 

  • The roadway between Big Bear Blvd. and Prathersville Road is narrowed to ten feet.
  • Utilities continue to be relocated in various locations. 
  • Construction of the roundabout continues at Prathersville Road.  The intersection is now a three-way stop with temporary stop signs installed.  Motorists should use the new temporary crossover located north of Wildwood to access the Route 763 outer road and Route VV.
  • Brown School Road at Route 763 is closed to traffic and will remain closed until early September.
  • The dedicated left turn lanes for north and southbound traffic on Route 763 at Blue Ridge Road are now straight through lanes. Motorists should consider using an alternate route to avoid potential lengthy delays if needing to access Blue Ridge Road by making a left turn.  This new configuration will stay in place through the duration.
  • Traffic is using the newly constructed temporary bypass between Blue Ridge and Prathersville Road and temporary signals have been activated at Smiley Lane.
  • Crews will work during the overnight hours in various locations installing culvert pipes.  During the work, one lane will be open and flagmen will assist traffic.

The project is expected to be complete by August 2009.

Overnight Hours

I-70 between Route 740 (Stadium Blvd.) and the Missouri River Bridge – Resurfacing.  Crews will continue resurfacing the westbound lanes between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 28.  One westbound lane will be open to traffic.  The resurfacing is expected to be complete in September. 

Daylight Hours

Route 63, Gans Road Interchange, south of Route AC in Columbia – Interchange construction.  Excavation work and concrete paving continues.  Motorists should be advised the north and southbound lanes are narrowed to eleven feet.

  • Motorists can expect lane closures in the north and southbound lanes of Route 63 to allow the contractor to continue construction of the interchange.        
  • The intersection of Gans Road and Ponderosa Street is now open.  The intersection of

Gans Road and Old Gans Road is now open to local traffic only.   

The project will be complete in late 2008. 

Route 163 between Hinkson Creek and Champions DriveBy permit, construction of a right turn lane continues in the northbound lanes.  Crews will asphalt the southbound shoulders and stripe the northbound lanes. One lane in each direction will be open to traffic.

Callaway County

Overnight/Daylight Hours

Route 54 between Route MM and Route OO and Route AA Interchange, Holts Summit – Smooth and even pavement.  Crews will continue diamond grinding the seven-mile section of the westbound lanes beginning 12 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, and continue around the clock through 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29.  One westbound lane will be open to traffic in the work area.  Motorists are asked to use caution through the slow moving operation. 

Overnight Hours

I-70, just west of the Route A and Route Z Interchange (between 154.6 and 153.4 mile markers) – Crews will mill and resurface a short section of the westbound lanes during the overnight hours beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, and finishing 6 a.m. Tuesday.  One westbound lane will be open to traffic.

Camden County

Daylight Hours

Route 5 from two miles south of the Niangua Bridge to Route 7 – New roadway, interchanges and bridges approximately two miles south of the Niangua Bridge.  Construction will take place on the southbound Route 5 bridge over School Road.  Excavation is complete. Paving continues on the north service road and Lake Rd. 5-92 connections. Traffic on Route 5 is not affected at this time.  The project is expected to be complete by fall 2008.

                                                                                                     

Route 54 Expressway, between Business 54 south and the Grand Glaize Bridge in Osage Beach – Grading, paving and new bridge construction. Excavation, rock removal and drainage work will take place between the Grand Glaize bridge and Route 42. Motorists using Passover Road should be aware of construction vehicles crossing the roadway.  Construction will begin on the Passover Road Bridge. Temporary traffic signals are currently in place on Passover Road to assist with traffic.  Traffic on Route 54 is not affected at this time.  The project will be complete by 2010.

Route A between the Laclede County line and Route 54 – Roadway maintenance will continue in various locations on Monday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 28.  One lane will be open to traffic in each location.

Lake Road 5-72 at Route 5, south of the Niangua Bridge – Slide repair.  Clearing and excavating continues.  The slide occurred when a portion of the shoulder and embankment became oversaturated and gave way.  Traffic on Route 5 will not be affected at this time. 

Route 5 between Old Route 5 and south of Route P in Laclede County – Shared four-lane highway.  Excavation, rock removal, erosion control and drainage work continues on the north end of the project.  Traffic on Route 5 is not affected at this time.  This portion of the project is expected to be complete in 2010. Woodbridge Road, located just south of Route 7, is now closed permanently.  The closure will allow construction to continue on the new roadway.  Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.

Cole County

Overnight/Daylight Hours
Route W, Spring Creek Bridge –
Motorists should be aware that the 10-ton weight limit remains in place on the bridge. 

Route 50 between Henwick Lane west of Route T in Cole County and Route K in Moniteau County – Grading, paving and drainage work for new four-lane highway.  Concrete paving and seeding and mulching continues. Motorists accessing Route U at Route 50 should be advised of possible delays as paving continues.

  • Traffic has been switched to the new bypass pavement between Nine Hills Road and Henwick Lane to allow the contractor to construct the new eastbound lanes.
  • Crews will close Mockingbird Road, previously known as Wieneke Branch Road, after morning rush hour on Monday, Aug. 25.  Mockingbird Road, located just east of Route PP in Moniteau County, will be closed at Route 50 for approximately one week.  Motorists are asked to use alternate routes. 

The project is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2008.  

Overnight Hours

Southwest Blvd between Route C and Route 54 – Striping and signal changes to improve traffic flow and safety will take place during the overnight hours of Tuesday, Aug. 26.  The improvements will begin after evening rush hour Tuesday night and are expected to be complete before morning rush hour Wednesday.  Motorists should use caution as they travel through the area and become familiar with the new configuration. 

Daylight Hours

Route 50/63 at City View – Interchange construction. Crews continue removing rock and excavating on the north and south side of the roadway, west of City View.

  • Temporary concrete barrier is in place along the east and westbound shoulders.
  • Work continues on the new overpass bridge at City View along with the interchange and ramps.  Blasting will continue and traffic on east and westbound Route 50/63 could be stopped for short periods of time. 
  • Construction of a second roundabout on the south side of the project is nearly complete. 

The interchange will be open to traffic by the end of 2008. 

Route 50/63 Overpass at Eastland Drive

Route 50/63 at Moreau River Bridge – Crews plan to seal the east and westbound bridge surfaces listed above Monday, Aug. 25.  One lane in each direction of each bridge will be open to traffic.

Cooper County

Daylight Hours

Route 41, Lamine River Bridge, just north of I-70 – Bridge deck repairs will continue Monday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 28.  One lane of the bridge will be open to traffic.  The repairs are expected to be complete by the end of August. 

Route K near Blackwater – By permit, improvements will be made to the railroad tracks on Saturday, Aug. 23. The road will be closed to traffic between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.  Motorists are asked to use Route 41 and I-70 as alternate routes around the closure.

Maries County

Daylight Hours

Route 63 between Route P in Freeburg to just east of Route 28 south of Vienna – Resurfacing, roadway and shoulders.  Resurfacing has resumed and crews will be working from Vienna south Monday, Aug. 25, through Saturday, Aug. 29.  One lane will be open to traffic in the work areas.

Miller County

Daylight Hours

Route 17, Osage River Bridge – Crews will seal the bridge surface Thursday, Aug. 28.  One lane of the bridge will be open to traffic. 

Route BB between Route 42 and the Maries County line

Route JJ between Route C and the end of state maintenance - Crews will seal the routes listed above this week.  Crews will seal Route BB on Monday, Aug. 25, and Tuesday, Aug. 26.  Crews will work on Route JJ Tuesday, Aug. 26, through Thursday, Aug. 28.  One lane will be open to traffic on each route, however, due to the nature of the work, motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Morgan County

Daylight Hours

Route 135 at Ivy Bend Road, approximately three miles south of Route T – Intersection improvements.  Work on the intersection will continue.  One lane will be open on Route 135 and Ivy Bend Road.  The improvements are expected to be complete in late August.

Route BB between Route 135 and Route D – Crews will seal the roadway Monday, Aug. 25.  One lane will be open to traffic, however, due to the nature of the work, motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Moniteau County

Overnight/Daylight Hours

Route 50 between Henwick Lane west of Route T in Cole County and Route K in Moniteau County – Grading, paving and drainage work for new four-lane highway.  Concrete paving and seeding and mulching continues. Pettis County

Daylight Hours

Route 65 between the Saline County line and Route H – Resurfacing.  Crews will continue resurfacing the north and southbound lanes during daylight hours.  One lane will be open in each direction.  Bridge deck repairs will also continue on the southbound Muddy Creek Bridge, located approximately four miles south of Route D, Monday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 28.  One lane of the southbound bridge will be open to traffic.  The project is expected to be complete by the fall 2008.  

Route 50 and Route 65 in Sedalia – Intersection improvements.  A new right turn lane from eastbound Route 50 to southbound Route 65 is now open to traffic. Work has resumed on the intersection by creating additional turn lanes, installing new traffic signals and constructing median islands.  One lane in each direction of each route will be open to traffic.  The project will be complete in late summer 2008.
