MoDOT's Online Work Zone Locator
Map
Shows Travelers
What Lies Ahead
With more than 1,000 active
work zones on Missouri highways this year, motorists can expect
delays. But where will they be, and when will work be going
on?
At www.modot.org ,
the Web site of the Missouri Department of Transportation, you
can see current information on work zone locations and delays.
This new service makes Missouri one of the nation's leaders
in work zone information technology.
"Highway work is everywhere
this year, as we get started on our Amendment 3-financed Smoother,
Safer, Sooner program," said MoDOT Director Pete Rahn.
"By using our Web site travelers can find out ahead of time
where delays are, and choose alternate routes. We're doing all
we can to help drivers travel safely and quickly."
An easy-to-understand map
allows motorists to organize their work zone search by trip origin
and destination, route or region. Color-coded icons display
active sites by degree of delay. Icons can be clicked on if
motorists want more detailed information on specific work zones.
Text displays describe the duration of the work zone, the type
of work being done and expected lane closures. These displays
can be printed out for reference.
Links to traffic information
systems in Kansas City and St. Louis provide urban travelers with
more detail.
