Andrew County

Maintenance Projects:

Construction Projects:

Route 48:  Herzog Contracting Corp., has been awarded a contract for a thin-lift overlay on Route 48 in Andrew County.  Route 48 will be resurfaced from the Gentry County line to US 71 for a length of 15.502 miles.  The contractor will begin work on Friday, August 8th.  The initial work will include milling in various locations.  The paving is expected to take approximately one and a half weeks to complete.  During this project motorists can expect the road to be narrowed to one lane around the work zone and will be directed through the work zone by a pilot car and flaggers.  This project is expected to begin on August 8, 2008.

Route 59/Business 71:  The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract to Herzog Contracting Corp. for Route 59 and Business 71 in Andrew County.  Resurfacing of mainline with Superpave and shoulders will be done from Interstate 29 interchange to Business Loop 29 near St. Joseph for a length of 1.759 miles.  Coldmilling and resurfacing with Superpave and pavement repair will be done from Interstate 29 interchange to Price Street near Savannah for a length of 5.791 miles.  Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures.   This project began in mid-August.

Atchison County

Maintenance Projects:

Route A:  Crews will be applying fresh oil on Route A, west of Watson beginning on Tuesday, August 19th at 7:00 a.m. (weather permitting).  Flaggers will be present during this work, but drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route to avoid the fresh oil. 

Route U:  following the completion of Route A, crews will perform the same application on the full length of Route U from Phelps City, south. 

Construction Projects:

Interstate 29:  Hot-in-place recycling will be done on I-29 beginning in May from the Iowa State line south to Route 111 at Rock Port.  The resurfacing project will utilize the hot-in-place recycling method in which asphalt pavement surfaces are corrected by softening the existing surface with heat, then mechanically removing the pavement surface, mixing it with a recycling or rejuvenating agent, possibly adding virgin asphalt and/or aggregate, and replacing it on the pavement without removing the recycled material from the existing roadway.  The contractor on this project will be Ideker Corporation of St. Joseph.   This project is currently in progress.

Buchanan County

Maintenance Projects: 

Route H:  Beginning the week of August 18th (weather permitting) crews will be sealing on Route H from Route E to Gower.  Following completion of that section, crews will be sealing on Route H from Route E into Agency.  The road will be narrowed to one lane around the work zone and flaggers will be directing traffic.  Motorists may wish to choose an alternate route during this time due to fresh oil. 

Route 59:  (St. Joseph Ave) area maintenance crews will be working on St. Joseph Avenue between Karnes and Maxwell Road beginning Monday, August 18th.  The road will be narrowed to one lane around the work zone.  Work will continue through Thursday, August 28th.

Route 169:  Vance Brothers, Inc., has been awarded a contract for roadwork on Route 169 in Buchanan and Clinton Counties.  Microsurfacing will be done on Route 169 from Route FF in St. Joseph to the Clay County line near Trimble for a length of approximately 23 miles.  Pavement repairs will be done initially before the resurfacing begins.  During the roadwork the road will be narrowed to one lane around the work zone.  A pilot car and flaggers will be directing traffic through the work zone.  This project is in progress.

Caldwell County

Maintenance Projects:

Route 13:  area maintenance crews will be making concrete repairs on Route 13 south of Polo to the Ray County line beginning Thursday, August 7, 2008.  This work is expected to continue for the next two weeks (weather permitting).  The work is being done in preparation of a resurfacing project scheduled for Route 13 from Business 36 in Hamilton to south of Route V near Polo.  That project is expected to begin in early September.  The road will be narrowed to one lane in various locations throughout the next two weeks.

Route A:  Bridge repairs are scheduled for Route A on Tuesday, August 26th (weather permitting).  Route A will be closed at the Panther Creek Bridge south of US 36 Hwy from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The bridge will be closed to all traffic during this time and motorists will need to choose an alternate route during this time.

Route A:  The IC&E Railroad will be closing Route A south of Braymer at the railroad tracks beginning on Tuesday, September 2nd.  The railroad will be closing Route A for seven to ten days to replace the tracks at this location (weather permitting).  The road will be closed to all traffic during this time and motorists will need to use an alternate route during this time. 

Route N:  The IC&E Railroad will close Route N east of Braymer at the railroad tracks on September 16th and will be closed for seven to ten days (weather permitting).  Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during this time.

Construction Projects:

Route 13:  a resurfacing project is scheduled for this summer on Route 13 in Caldwell County.  Route 13 will be resurfaced from Business 36 in Hamilton to south of Route V near Polo, for a total length of approximately 15 miles.  Prior to contract work scheduled for the road, MoDOT maintenance forces in the area will be continuing to make surface repairs in preparation of the asphalt overlay.  During the contractors resurfacing project, Route 13 will be narrowed to one lane and motorists will be guided through the work zone by a pilot car.  The contractor on the project will be Ideker, Inc. of St. Joseph.   This project is scheduled to begin in September 2008.

Route 36:  Norris Asphalt Paving Co. has been awarded a contract to resurface Route 36 in Caldwell County.  The length of the project is 15.872 miles from east of the intersection of Route P to west of the intersection of Route M and Route A near Hamilton.  This project is scheduled to be done by September 1, 2008.

 

Clinton County

Maintenance Projects:

Interstate 35 Rest Areas:  the rest areas in Clinton County at Lathrop will be closing for roadwork on Tuesday, August 26th (weather permitting).  The north and southbound rest areas will be closed due to work on the exit ramps between 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26th and 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27th.  

Route N:  roadwork has been scheduled for Route N in Clinton County on Wednesday, August 27th (weather permitting).  Route N will be closed east of Easton for a culvert replacement between Fitzgerald Road and Route VV from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Motorists will need to choose an alternate route during this time.

Route M:  Norris Asphalt Paving Co., has been awarded a contract on Route M in Daviess and Caldwell County.  A thin-lift overlay is scheduled from Route 13 to Route 36 near Breckenridge on Route M for a total length of 13.789 miles.  This project is expected to begin in July 2008.

Dekalb County

Maintenance Projects:

Route N:  crews will be smoothing the road and applying oil and chat for a better driving surface on Route N in Dekalb County.  The road will be reduced to one lane from Route 6 to Route 36 on Route N from 6:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. from July 22 thru September 1st (weather permitting).   Flaggers will be present during this operation.

Route H:  SemMaterials of Olathe, Kansas has been awarded the contract to do a cold-in-place recycling demonstration.  Route H will be closed to all but local traffic from Route Z to Route V.  The project should take 23 days.  Following completion of this section, Route H will be closed from Route V to Route E (at Darlington). Again, the route will be closed to all but local traffic.  Flaggers will be present.  THIS PROJECT IS IN PROGRESS.

Route E:  Following completion of the Route H project listed above, SemMaterials will begin the same process on Route E.

Route Y:  Crews will be doing a chip seal operation on Route Y from the Andrew County line to the intersection with Route A beginning Tuesday, August 26, 2008 (weather permitting).  The road will be closed to all but local traffic.  Flaggers will be present, but drivers are urged to seek an alternate route during this time.

Construction Projects: 

Route M:  A contract has been awarded to Herzog Contracting Corp. of St. Joseph to resurface Route M.  Route M will be resurfaced from US 71 to Route AH near Guilford for a length of six miles.  On Friday, August 8th, initial work will begin in various locations on Route M.  Beginning Monday, August 11th paving will begin on Route M.  The paving is expected to take one week to complete.  During the paving project motorists can expect the road to be narrowed to one lane around the work zone.  Motorists will be directed by a pilot car and flaggers.  Brief delays may be expected during this time.  Project will begin on Friday, August 8th.
