I-270 North Environmental Assessment

Study Overview


The purpose of the I-270 North Environmental Assessment is to identify potential improvement alternatives and analyze their potential impacts. Possible impacts include:

  • Natural Environmental (noise, parks, wetlands, rivers/streams, and hazards)
  • Cultural Resources (historical sites)
  • Human Environment (the effect on neighborhoods, communities and municipalities)


Considering such impacts early in the planning process allows for them to be effectively avoided, minimized or mitigated.


Study Area Map


The study area extends from the I-70 interchange on the west to the Chain of Rocks Bridge on the east. It is approximately 15 miles in length with 16 interchanges. It includes the municipalities of: Bridgeton; Hazelwood; Florissant; Calverton Park; Ferguson; Dellwood; and Bellefontaine Neighbors.
