Interstate 55 West Outer Road Bridge Replacement
Project Over Rock Creek
UPDATED: BRIDGE OPEN TO TRAFFIC
The West Outer Road which had been closed between Seckman Road and Old Antonia Road is open to traffic. Work will continue in this area with various lane closures. Flaggers may be in place daily at this location from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to allow trucks access to the job site. The job is scheduled to be complete by Oct. 3, 2008.
UPDATED AUGUST 26: BRIDGE TO OPEN TO TRAFFIC FRIDAY AUGUST 29
The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor Pace Construction Company, will open the new Interstate 55 West Outer Road bridge between Seckman Road and Old Antonia Road Friday, August 29, 2008.
Crews built a new three-lane bridge over Rock Creek consisting of one through lane in each direction and a dedicated left turn lane to Seckman Road. Additional improvements with this project included a right turn lane from the west outer road to Seckman and a six foot shoulder on the west side of the west outer road.
UPDATED JULY 31: CONSTRUCTION DELAY
MoDOT anticipated a three-month closure with an August 13th opening date for the new bridge. Due to weather and flooding of Rock Creek, MoDOT believes the work will be delayed beyond the original three-month closure, with an expected opening by the end of August. MoDOT and its contractor are working as quickly as conditions permit to complete the work.
The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor Pace Construction Company, closed the Interstate 55 West Outer Road between Seckman Road and Old Antonia Road Monday, June 2, 2008 for construction of a new bridge over Rock Creek.
Motorists in the area are advised to take the West Outer Road north to Vogel Road to Richardson Road to southbound I-55 as a detour.
Estimated Project Cost:
Estimated construction cost to improve the I-55 West Outer Road bridge over Rock Creek: Approximately $869,000 if the project is staged and the bridge remains open during construction, and approximately $799,000 if the bridge is closed during construction.
