The Route 100 Bridge over I-44 in Gray Summit needs to be replaced due to deterioration on the aging structure.
What Improvements Will MoDOT Accomplish?
This project will replace a deteriorating bridge on oute 100 over I-44 located between Gray Summit and the Route 100 interchanges.
What are the benefits?
This new bridge over the interstate will proved a safe structure for many years and reduce maintenance costs on the existing structure, which meets our goal to keep our bridges in good condition.
When will Construction Begin and End?
The project is expected to begin in mid-May 2012 and be completed by mid-August 2012. MoDOT is working with the schools to work around their Spring and Fall session. The estimated project cost is approximately $1.9 million.
How Will Traffic Be Impacted During Construction?
Motorists can expect to be detoured during periods of total closure of both Route 100 and Interstate 44. All lanes of I-44 will be closed during the times when the existing bridge is being demolished and the girders for the new bridge are being installed. Route 100 will be closed over I-44 for the duration of the project. There will be a signed detour for westbound traffic utilizing Route MM to Route T then Route 100 to I-44 as well as a signed detour for eastbound traffic utilizing Route O to Route F then Osage Street to I-44. Closures will be limited to nights and non-peak travel times.
