MoDOT Kicks Off Construction for I-55 Guard Cable Project

     HERCULANEUM - Missouri Department of Transportation celebrated the new construction for the final guard cable project on Interstate 55 north of Route 67 at a dedication ceremony on Monday, October 29. The ceremony was held at the Herculaneum commuter lot at McNutt Road on the west side of I-55 with the media and the public invited to attend.

Citizens for Safe Medians donated $55,000 to MoDOT specifically for guard cable work where they held various fund-raisers to raise the money. A MoDOT representative accepted the donation and committed to use the money on the next I-55 guard cable project. MoDOT and its contractor will install guard cable in the median of I-55 in all the remaining gap areas along the interstate between Route M and Route 67. Construction will begin in November 2007 and is expected to be complete by May 2008. The project was awarded to D&S Fencing Company for approximately $779,000.

Dedicating the I-55 Guard Cable project is great news for Jefferson County motorists. It will improve the safety of people traveling on I-55.

MoDOT Breaks Ground for Page Extension Work

     ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation broke ground on a construction project that will extend Route 364 one mile further into St. Charles County. The groundbreaking took place on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the northwest corner of the intersection of Route 94 and Harvester Road.

This project will begin where Route 364 currently ends, just west of Jungs Station Road, and continue west to near Woodstone Drive.  Construction work will also take place between Woodstone Drive and Jungerman Road so the new Route 364 can transition smoothly back into Route 94.  In addition to the new Route 364 pavement, this project will build a bridge for Harvester Road to travel over Route 364 and also construct one-way outer roads similar to those east of Jungs Station Road.
